The Torch has been passed. . . and now what to do?

Ladies,
I am so excited to be the new R.S. night meeting. . . ummm person? Leader! This blog thing is SO new to me and I'm a bit overwhelmed! (with the blog, not the actual calling.) I have never blogged before. I will try my best to figure this out quickly and have great posts that are informative and worthwhile. So, while I'm in the process of "training" please continue to read and try to follow this lovely blog. I have HUGE shoes to fill from the last lovely lady that passed the torch to me. Thank you Pat for setting this blog up. Making me learn something new because of it. We love you, we miss you, we still speak of you often and fondly!

Okay glorious women of Fallon 4th. If there is any advice, tips or tricks you can give me to make this the best blog EVER, feel free to chime in. If there is anything you'd like to see here, let me know. I'll get me team of experts (me, myself and I) on that!

Dear Sweet Shannon, I love your enthusiam and dedication and endless energy. I hope all you ladies in the ward get behind Shannon and appreciate her spirit and willingness to serve you and her endless creative ideas!!! P.S. Thank you for your kind words, I miss you all more than I can say.

Low Closet Rods

My husband installed closet rods low enough so that little children can reach to hang up their own clothes.

Clothes Placement: Pictures of articles of clothing taped to the inside of drawers illustrate for my little ones where each item belongs.

Coded Puzzles: To avoid mixed puzzle pieces, I code the back of each piece with a colored dot. All the red dots belong to one puzzle, etc.

Freeze Ahead: I prepare double portions when fixing a meal. One half is used that evening, the other half is frozen for use next week, on the Sabbath, or to share with the ill.

Open the Mail, sort, and get rid of the junk immediately. Have a "place" for bills, coupons, letters, etc. so that papers don't pile up.

Hang 2 canvas totes labeled with REPAIR and DONATE

from hooks in the laundry room. This will help you keep on top of too small clothes and items needing to be tossed.

Treat organization in the same way as you would a diet or exercise program - as a life style change. You have to do a little bit often.

No bathroom storage? Hang a canvas shoe organizer on the back of the door.

Stash a permanent marker in the bathroom cabinet and mark makeup, sunscreen, and medicines with dates of purchase so you know when they should be tossed.

Simplify, downsize, edit. How many pots can you fit on the stove at once? How many free pens do you really use? How many old T-shirts do you really need?

Corral clutter where it lands. Keep containers near mess hot spots, such as the front door, the bedroom dresser, kitchen counter. Then empty them when full, put items away, and start all over.

Clean house like you're moving. Keep only those things you'd take if you relocated.

Family Home Evening

All of us know the counsel from our leaders and the value of FHE. We all WANT to have great Family Nights. But most of us struggle with putting together good lessons and activities mainly because when Monday night rolls around we're exhausted from cleaning up after the weekend, facing the upcoming week, or short on time to prepare. It can be discouraging and overwhelming.

It is for those reasons and more that we as a R.S. Committee want to offer EACH MONTH ideas to help you with your FHE. As you collect stories, games, activity and treat ideas, you will be able to go to your "files" on those busy weeks and pull out a lesson in no time at all. The kids will love it and you will feel like you have prepared a special lesson.
