Do you have ESP??? Join us for our July 12th Night Relief Society Meeting and get a good dose of Emotional, Spiritual, and Physical well-being.
We will hold our night of ESP at the home of Susan Robertson. Dinner will start at 6:30. We are asking all sisters to bring a side dish. The RS food committee will provide the main BBQ. Side dishes may include salads of any kind, baked beans, fruit cut up or in a salad, veggie tray, etc.
Throughout the evening we will hear advice and thoughts on personal well-being: Nutrition tips - from Anna Williams
Physical fitness - advice from Kelli Yates
Emotional and Spiritual well-being - remarks from Lisa Bird
After dinner there will be water aerobics (yes, you read correctly)for those brave enough to put on a swimsuit!! (you can wear shorts too) This will be taught by Shirl Thomas. Shirl teaches water aerobics at the base so we'll be in good hands.
For those with a tamer activity in mind we will have horseshoes, croquet, and badmitten. If that makes you tired just thinking about it, relax, visit, and enjoy watching everyone else!
We will wrap up the evening with fruit smoothies! We encourage you to bring your friends and neighbors...all are welcome.
Because we will be meeting at the Robertson home, a nursery will NOT be provided. Sorry. We hope you will have enough time to arrange for your own babysitting.

June's Healthy Tip
Now that warmer weather is here proper hydration is more important than ever! The amount of water required varies by person. Factors that can affect this include climate, physical activity, diet and body weight. To calculate the minimum amount of water you require daily, take you body weight and divide it in half. The result will be the number of ounces of water you should drink daily. Remember you will need to increase this amount if you are physically active or spending time outside in the heat.

June RS Meeting...a BERRY good night.
A BIG Thank You to all those who were able to attend last night. To those of you who were not able to come, we missed you and hope to see you at one of our upcoming summer meetings. Strawberries, Gardening, and The Golden Rule were the themes of the night. Below is a recap.
For dinner we had "Grandma's Vegetable Soup" a recipe that my mother (Pat) made us all the time and has become a family favorite. It was passed down from her grandmother. (The secret is in the soup bone) To compliment the soup was a garden salad with Lisa's homemade garlic croutons...oh my!! Dessert was sitting in front of us all through the meal, enticing us to eat it first. Cream cheese filled tarts topped with strawberries.
"I left my kids home with my husband and I have a feeling
that I'm going to be really late."
"Hurry and take the picture so we can eat".
They're really smiling because they didn't have to cook tonight!!
After being threatened that their picture would be taken with a mouthful of food,
Erin and Lori were quick to cooperate with big smiles.
After dinner and a little birthday singing we all went our merry way to classes. Flower Gardening was held in Pat's back yard. Michelle Nelsen, a Master Gardener gave us some great tips on Perennials and Annuals, watering, transplanting, what grows well here, and so on. Did you know that "coco mulch" is great for your flower beds and it smells good too?? Or that Rose bushes, Forsythia, Red Twig Dogwood, and Red Barberry do really well in Fallon, but Azalea's not so well? Everyone went home with a little perennial "start" and a pledge to make their yards look like the Garden of Eden. (Well, kinda like that)
Our Veggie Gardening class was held at Daisy's home. She gave us some wonderful tips on how to make our garden a success. Some of her tips included soaking your seeds in warm water for 3 days prior to planting, making sure to feed your plants every 2 weeks and mixing a little potting soil into your ground before planting. Those that attended the class even enjoyed some wonderful homemade snacks as we toured Daisy's garden. Just look at those plants grow!!
Krista prepared the FHE class, everyone went home with the story "Live the Golden Rule". It's a story about Mr. Happy who visits a place called "Unhappy Land" where Mr. Lazy, Mr. Noisy, Mr. Mean, Mr. Uppity, Mr. Messy, etc. lived and they were miserable. Mr. Happy taught them why and how they could change so that they could be happy too. Then they were known as Mr. Helpful, Mr. Quiet, Mr. Nice, Mr. Friendly, Mr. Clean....etc. Also included was a lesson on Love One Another for older children.
Our food class was all about strawberries. Trillis taught the sisters how to make freezer jam (easy as pie) and demonstrated how to make Strawberry Salsa. Check out the "Ward Cookbook" for recipes. Everyone left with some BERRY delicious recipes!

Our May Relief Society was "Sew" Fun!
We are sewing...we are sewing, la la la....
We had a really good turnout for our May meeting which centered around Sewing. We started off the night with a light dinner of Chicken Salad and rolls, followed by Pineapple Yum Yum Cake. (And it was Yum)

Our food committee for the night was Pam, Janet, Ruby, Dorothy, and Lolli. (Welcome Lolli, we're so glad you're part of our ward!)
We Ladies sure love to eat. The only thing we love more than eating is visiting!!
After dinner we separated for our classes. Leslie taught us how to make YoYo's. Well, they look more like fabric flowers with a button in the middle, soooo cute and can be used to embellish just about anything.
Annie taught Sewing 101. This was for anyone who wanted to know all the basics, how to work a machine, sewing terms,, reading a pattern, how to NOT sew your own finger in machine, etc.
Lots of sisters enjoyed making "Scrubbies" with Patty. Amazing what you can do with a crochet hook and a little netting!!Last but not least, we offered a Family Home Evening "game idea".....BEAN BAGS!! Lisa taught the class and each sister went home with as many bean bags as she could make along with a sheet of fun ideas on how to use them in FHE.
Thanks to all who helped with the food, classes, set-up, clean-up and all who came. We had a great time!!
